Welcome!
My name is Roger Buchanan. I am not a psychologist, a psychiatrist or a sociologist. I am just a partially sighted guy who has Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and I have a story I’d like to tell. Gradually, losing my vision has simply been a part of my life experience. The purpose of this blog is to share with you some of the issues I have had to face. Sometime I faced those issues well and sometimes not so well. Some of the entries here deal with serious subjects that anyone with RP will eventually face. I just point out the situation and talk about my experience. I am not giving anyone advice on how they should handle a situation. I don’t know why I said that, of course I’m giving advice. Actually, I relate to you what happened to me and then you must think for yourself how it applies to you and make your own decisions. Other entries are not so serious and are about humorous things that have happened to me over the years. Still other entries are things I think are funny or profound and serve no purpose whatsoever except to make us laugh or think.
I hope you enjoy these posts. Please note: I cusses a bit here in this blog (not a lot), so if this in anyway offends you, then this is not the place for you. I try not to be crass, but I am honest in my expression, so be warned – you will find the occasional swear word here. Also, I love to laugh and to make people laugh. Some of the things posted here are funny stories about things that have happed to me because of my vision loss, and they are funny. I do NOT think disability or vision loss is funny in any way. I would NEVER make fun of anyone who is disabled. I think laughter helps to heal the hurts inside us and therefore I have chosen to laugh at those things that happen to me, rather than reacting in a negative way. So, if you have a laugh, I hope it is at my expense and understand that it is not laughing at someone for being visually impaired, but laughing with me.

Oh, and if you havn’t guessed already, I like to talk. I tend to yammer and go on longer than I should. I’ll just go ahead and apologize now, because I know this is going to happen.
